"What began as a mother's dream to earn money for a
new sofa for the family's living room has led Sarah Schultz to an exciting
and long-lasting career! The phenomenon known as Sarah's Attic actually
began sixteen years ago on the dining room table of the Schultz home in
Chesaning, MI. By 1986, the handmade line was expanded to include resin
figurines that began the popular multicultural Sarah's Gang collection.
Sarah was among the first to create African-American figurines portrayed
with respect and dignity. The Sarah's Gang collection catapulted the artist
and her business to national attention in the gift and collectibles industry
earning her The Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1992. What began as
a hobby turned business to buy a couch and pay college costs is now an
